Rivertown artists, mothers and organizers, Naomi Vladeck and Jill Liflander, in partnership with Sarah Silbert Hinawi, Executive Director of The Purple Crayon in Hastings, are pleased to announce the start of a program to support ... you!  

Starting in the fall, we will be hosting monthly discussions facilitated to address specific experiences, struggles and goals of artists from all disciplines and to provide group coaching to move you forward in your work.


We welcome artists at all stages of development, from professional working artists to those who are beginning to make space for their creative pursuits.

 

We invite you to kick off this project with us, meet the organizers and other artists from the area, and join the conversation to bolster community around your needs and visions.

Naomi Vladeck received a MA from Gallatin/ NYU Tisch School of the Arts in Performance Studies.  As a student, she performed solo work at WOW, Dixon Place and NYU.  She has been a student of performance art luminaries Holly Hughes, Richard Schechner and Deb Margolin. She has trained with theater director Anne Bogart in her Viewpoint's method, and in the Suzuki Method of Actor Training while she was a member of the intern company at Stage West in Springfield, MA under the direction of Tadashi Suzuki Company members.  Naomi was also a member of Big Onion theater company in New York, led by Alison Russo.  As the Director of Development and Planning at Dance Theater Workshop (1997-2004) Naomi nurtured the work of many dance theater artists and administrators as they strived to articulate visions for their work.  Naomi is a lifelong student of creative writing and is trained as a Life Coach by the Coaches Training Institute (CTI).  She is currently conducting personal essay writingand performance workshops. Naomi lives in Sleepy Hollow wither her husband and two young children.

 

Jill Liflander received her undergraduate degree in Cultural Anthropology and a Masters in Education.  Thanks to her brother's loving encouragement Jill performed a puppet show at his wedding 5 years ago and since then has merged her teaching and artistic passions to create 'Jilly Puppets,' a one woman puppet troupe. With homemade costumes and silly wigs, audience involvement, instrument, singing and dancing, Jill uses puppet choreography, poems and music to tell magical stories with an educational message.  She has studied painting, creative writing and dance and is currently a member of the Evolve Adult Ensemble in Tarrytown, studying choreography and a wide variety of dance forms.  In addition to Jilly Puppets, Jill also is a character dancer with the Bossy Frog Band, an award winning children's musical group.  Jill lives in Sleepy Hollow with her wonderfully supportive husband and her two wide-eyed, magical daughters.
